i bought some stainless steel bed strips from a supplier ,when they came in i put a magnet on them and it stuck. call supplier and he said that a magnet would stick.i have never see s.s stick to a magnet/ am i wrong and he is right?sombody set me straight before i call him back.

I just went out and put a magnet to everything that is Stainless on my truck and it would not stick...

 

Some grades of SS are magnetic

 

If its cheap S.S. it will stick, on high quality S.S. it wont stick

 

Hey A&W, ditto the previous answer. The better the quality, the less likely the magnet will stick to the SS. But, it is still SS and will resist rusting much better than reg steel. I've also noticed this with SS fasteners. Some SS bolts are not magnetic at all, and some will stick to the magnet, just not as securely as the steel units. Good luck, John
