A slider is good on the rare occasion that you have something loooonnnnggg to haul. I'm a pretty frequent do-it-yourselfer around the house(s). I've bought 16ft. molding from Home Depot many times. You can open the rear slider and get an extra 5ft. or so in the cab so it's not all hanging out past the tailgate.

Love it

If you want a slider, get the power. If for no other reason than security. It is way to easy to break into a vehicle with the manual sliders.

As others have said it is great for controlling air flow. And as big as this cab is NO ONE has any business opening and closing the slider on the SCab while driving!

IMO - it is well worth the money.

In Scab an Screw XLT and above models, power rear windows will take the wind off your face if rolled down about half way, mine has the rear slider, I wont use it cause any dirt in bed will come in truck.

Good point. It is "fall" around here. (Live Oak trees loose about 1/3 of thier leaves in the sprint). I went for a drive the other day with the rear window open and the cab was filled with leaves. Had to lower the tailgate for a few miles to clean the bed.

I have the power slider. Initially, I didn't want it and I ordered the truck without it. However, after hearing the drumming, pulsing, reverberation or whatever you'd like to call it from the air coming in through the sunroof with nowhere to escape, I'm now glad I ended up getting the slider, Having the sunroof open with the slider open provides nice airflow and a convertible sort of feel.

Thumbs up Power sliding window

I like the power sliding window. Most people have mentioned already the things I would have, the air flow through the cab and the "cool" factor (it really impresses people when you show them how it opens). I agree with the guy that with the combination of the moon roof and the rear window, you can create just the perfect amount of breeze through the truck when the temp outside just doesn't warrant the A/C but you need to get rid of the stuffiness in the cab.

Get the powerslider! I never have had a problem with the rear window frosting up.

Thumbs up

I have SCAB with the slider and I love it. It sure is great when you open it at a stoplight when a CHEVY is behind you. But be sure he is looking straight ahead.

I didn't order my truck but it came with everything, I mean everything....except a power slider. It has the manual slider. I can't figure out why they put every single option on this SCREW except the power slider. I absolutely love the truck but I'm seriously thinking about installing the power slider. I'm going to check with the dealership and see if this truck is be pre-wired for it and if so, it's goin' in. I know I'll have to buy the 2 button overhead console 'cause I only have one button right now for the moonroof. I really don't care what it costs, I just want that VERY COOL last option I don't have. Plus, I'd love to be able to control that wind buffeting noise I get with any combination of windows/roof open. Good call to get the power slider.

Angry

Mine leaks and I was told by my dealer that everyone knows that all rear sliding windows leak. Ford told them that it is something I will have to live with. I am unable to use a high pressure wand or drive thru car wash without water getting on the rear seat. Leif Johnson Ford in Austin said these trucks are like convertibles and you will have to hand wash it unless you want water getting in.

That is completely wrong man....these are not convertibles....they are TRUCKS! There should not be any leaking going on....that means your cab is not sealed properly. I would go to another service place or have that one reported! Good Luck!

Just washed mine over the weekend. No leaks from my power slider. Not even a trace of any water getting in and it had water jets directly on it. I will check with someone else. They are feeding you a line of bull.

Several others on this and other forums use pressure washers and drive through washers and your's is the first complaint of leaking from a power sliding rear window.

That BS.... My slider has never leaked a drop. When I first got my 97 F250 LD the rear window leaked but not the slider. At the time it was a common problem. Ford replaced the entire rear window and external trim pieces (with the new 98 or 99 design) to fix the problem. The new window slider did not and still does not leak either.
