I like the 133" wheelbase! It is nimble and looks real good. I don't mind the 5.5 bed either. This size is fun to drive and easy to park. Got that real old time pickup type look too! If they had a reg cab flairside with a larait package I would have gotten that.

I previously owned a 02 SuperCrew Lariat FX4. I now own a 04 SuperCrew FX4. In 2001 I travel 1900 miles round trip to Canada in a 01 Lariat 4x4 Scab pulling a 20' boat with 3 buddies for a week of fishing. Never again will I travel over 2-hours in the rear seat of a Scab, nor would I ask a buddy to ride in the back. It was a miserable 36-hour round trip. In 2002 we took my 02 SuperCrew to Kentucky lake, and in 2003 we returned to Canada. Everyone took turns driving and riding in the rear seat. Everyone including the owner of the Scab said SuperCrew was the way to go.

I am leaving next week in my 04 FX4 SuperCrew for Kentucky Lake. This will be the first time I have pulled my 20' boat (3000lbs) with the 04 5.4L 3V. I am curious to see if the 300/365 makes a difference over the 02 SuperCrew with 260/350.

If your taking more that 2 adults, the SuperCrew is the ONLY way to go. A lot more convenient and comfortable!

It sounds like the Screw wins when backseat passengers are a priority, and I'll agree with that. If you hardly ever have anyone in the back seat, like me, I'll take the Scab hands down due to the extra bed length and more proportional (truck-like) look to it.

I have a Scab, and a 4 and 6 year old plus one on the way, the Scab was more affordable and fits the kids awesome, I am sure the Screw would be even better, If I was able to I would have bought a Screw... but like I said Scab works awesome, I traded up from a Crew Cab Frontier and it was the smallest back seat ever it didnt even fit my youngest very well.. either way you will be fine...

A Screw wasn't any more affordable for me than a Scab. I got a Scab Lariat with every option and it was even more than a lot of the Screws on the lot. I just like the way it looks better.

Check back at this same location around the 8th of April and I will let you know how the fishing went. I'll also let you guys know what kind of gas mileage I got pulling a 3000 lb boat and how the FX4 handled! 540 mile round trip.

I ordered mine as a supercab and 6.5 feet box... why? I want to pull a light 5th wheel. If only Ford was 'smart' enough to build the supercrew, with a 6.5 feet box on the heavy payload frame... that would have been my choice..... but.... supercab will do... there is only me and my wife... and a 15 pounds dog.

SUPERCREW is the best way to go with the kids especially if they are bigger. We drove around all day to day in the wine country of NAPA (TRYING TO GET MY COUNTRY BUTT SOME CULTURE) with four adults in the Supercrew with absolutely no problems.

I put the 13yr old stepson(5'8" 160#) in the Scab at the dealers and I don't know how anyone could think that would work for anything but a sort ride. Kids in carseats would probably fit OK but even that might be less than convenient to work with given the size of some carseats and how often they go in and out of your vehicle. Screw is the 1/2T for the family guy IMO.

SCab vs SCrew

I may be on the other end of the age spectrum, but I have grandkids and my 80 yr. old parents that I haul around in my 04 SCrew. Those full sized rear seats are great with car seats as well as canes and "old" knees. I've got the bed extender and have yet to have a problem hauling or towing anything.

I previously had 4 97 or newer SCabs and was fully intent on getting a 5th one (wife said I bought a new truck every time it needed tires!) anyway. I looked at the SCREW and drove it a little. Discovered I liked the way it handled and looked. Plus I have twin 14 yrs old girls. They and their friends fit better in the SCREW. Especially on the long trips to Indiana!. As for the 5 1/2 bed.. that was my main drawback. But since getting the SCREW I have hauled 50 pcs of sheet rock.. plus about 70 2x4x14's .. 14's fit fin on there. used the extender as a tie down point. Worked great for 70 mile haul.
If I worked with the truck and hauled all day I would need a bigger bed, but for household use the bed is fine. SCREW is much better when carrying passengers.. just my .02

I agree and disagree with a lot of posting on here... so I thought I would add my two cents. Keep in mind, this is two cents canadian... hahaha

The Supercrew is the perfect cab. Lots of room for both the front and rear passengers not to mention the 4 doors that actually open the 'right' way... no 1/2 door that open backwards when loading grocery, the dog or getting 'friends' in the back. But... yes... there is always a but... Ford missed the boat for not offering the 6.5 foot box. I want to pull a light 5th wheel and since the Supercrew does not come with the 'longer' box, I was SoL.

I love my supercab. I also think it looks better... more balanced. But, if you have to travel a long distance in the back seat, you want to be in the supercrew.

My situation: A wife. No kids. No plans for kids. A 15 pounds mini-Schnauzer. Maybe plan for a second mini-schnauzer. The Supercab is plenty for us.

So... dark shadow grey is my supercab FX4.

Thumbs up "Super Cab back door"

I love the way the back door in my super cab opens up "backwards". I think it looks cool as hell with both doors open. I wouldn't change a thing about it. If I had a crap load of kids to haul around (mine are grown), I'd own a supercrew. But I don't. I love my SCab!!
