Question new truck in.......is esp worth it?

Got my call Monday! The new truck is in, and it test drove like a dream. Today it gets the rustproof and undercoating. The finance man tried talking me into the extended service plan. I don't believe in them, but this is my first 4x4 and I plan on putting 130+K miles on it. I'm wondering if anyone has advise on getting some of the esp? I'm considering at least the powertrain coverage. By the way.....Ordered 02-19. truck came in 03-21. Just over 4 weeks. Sticker $30+ .....got it for $26161 plus 2.9% @ 72 mo. Thanks for any advise.

I would have gotten the warranty and skipped the rust/undercoat

I can't tell you what you should do, but I will tell you what I did. I had an '87 4runner and got the esp, I had one warranty repair that fell inside the original warr. I bought a '93 4X4 without the esp. I had one problem after it was "out" of warranty, but Ford fixed it for free. I just bought an '04 and did not get the esp. I figure that if I need it at the time Ford's runs out I can buy one then based on what if any trouble I have had.

I don't believe in them either, but I heard someone say once (it was in regard to investing money) that if you wake up at night in a cold sweat at night worried about it, even a 50% return is not worth it.
