2004 F-150 Vibration poll
#21
I don't think I have any vibration, as I have said before. But it feels as if the truck does have a constant vibe/movement over road irregularities. It just doesn't handle roads that have irregularities one after another. Patched asphalt roads are bad for these trucks to handle properly. I think the vibration dampener is what my truck needs.

glad to hear the new f-150's have vibration problems. i was just getting around to buying one too...
So you're glad the F150 has a vibration problems becaus you were very close to getting one? Sounds like you didn't want one and this is your excuse not to get one.
Not all trucks have the vibration, as my poll has clearly illustrated. And for those that do have the virbation issue, I honestly believe it's a very subjective issue. What I consider a "normal ride" and term slick as glass, may be an "abnormal ride" and rough as pine bark to another fellow F150'er.
FTE only reperesents a small % of the new F150 owners. Obviously people experiancing problems are going to be more vocal about them on a forum than those that don't have a problem. I wouldn't think that all the guys WITH OUT vibrations would start a thread titled " Hey my truck doesn't vibrate" bc some of the quick thinkers on this forum will be like " uhh ok, do you want a cookie"?
JUST DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER. I feel confident in saying that ~90% of the guys that DO experiance vibrations (of what ever type) would still say "despite the vibration it's still a great truck and I would buy the same thing over again given the oppourtunity".
I don't yet own a 2004 F150, but it's somewhere between my dealers lot and Norfolk VA. I hope to be able to comment honestly about this vibration issue by the end of next week!

My service manager told me that maybe 1 in 4 new trucks are having the driveline vibration after I brought it to his attention.
Don't buy the new truck at first. Ask the dealer to let you drive it home and to work...no demand it before you play $30,000. If your new truck does vibrate walk away from the sale and find one that does not. After you sign the papers Fords got your money and it's too late.

After 4 days with a new tire/wheel set-up, I have noticed no vibration.
On a stock Lariat SCAB 4x4, I went from P275/65R18 BFG on Lariat Wheels to LT275/65R18 Goodyear on FX4 wheels.
The differences are:
1) Slightly increased road noise, especially between 40-60 MPH
2) Slightly increased steering wheel "feedback"
3) More pronounced feeling going over big bumps
4) Increased confidence with 2400 lbs in the bed.
I suppose #2 & 3 are due to the increased stiffness of the LT vs the P and the road noise is due to the more aggressive tread. I kept the old set-up for long, lightly loaded road trips. The new ones are for hauling and driving on nasty roads.
Still no vibration at 3,500 miles. I guess I am one of the lucky ones.

My FX4 was having some vibrations so I took it in to the dealer and they had to rebalance the front passenger side tire. Seems a lot better now. I did noticed on Edmunds.com road test someone said "the ride gets choppy over expansion joints and rough pavement". I have noticed that a liitle bit but overall this is a great truck.
