HELP!!! 2000 F250 SD 4x4 Crew Cab Lariat 7.3 Diesel
Ordering my first diesel and ford! cant wait but have a few questions. I can see where this board will become addicting.
I have no idea about which axle ratio nor do i know what it means. What should I order?
ALso, the wheels/tires are just to small and the biggest tires i can place on factory wheels are still smaller than i want. I wanted to avoid buying new wheels but looks like I have no choice. I am putting a 3-4" lift on my monster. I will use 33x12.5 on a 16.5 if that sounds right.
Any recommendations on where to buy wheels/tires?
What should i be able to sell the factory wheels/tires for?
I am planning on not upgrading to the biggest ford has to offer since I am not going to use them.
ALso, I can't seem to find out the mileage I will be able to get on my diesel?
This will be one hot truck! I found a dealer to take my 2000 order. I need to be careful that they dont sell it out from under me when it comes in I hear, since its only $1650 over factory invoice. Does this sound like a deal? It is here in North Texas!!
Thanks everyone and RODEO!

First off, 33x1250x16.5's will fit without a lift. That's what I have on mine on 16.5 x 9.75 rims and I have no lift. I was going to go to 35's but needed a lift. If you are going with a lift, go with the 35's. If you want to do 33's, don't get a lift. It will look goofy with all that wheel well space.
Next to the gears. A higher number means lower ratio and more "pull" at low RPM's. But, a lower ratio will turn more RPM's on the highway (less fuel mileage). If you go with 35's, then I would get the lower ratio since it will equal out with the big tires. If 33's are in mind, stick with the 3.73's that are stock. Be sure to get the Limited Slip though, it's worth it. I got the 4.30's with my truck (V-10 only) expecting I would put 35's on it. I ended up putting 33's on and now it sucks the gas on the highway. But I have enough low end torque to pull a house out of a mud hole. With the diesel and the 35's, go with the 4.10's, this will give you the best all-around performance. But if you do 33's, stay with the 3.73's unless you pull a large trailer or camper.
Now to the wheels and tires. I have American Eagle 589 series rims with BFG All-Terrain's on them and it looks awesome. I was going to go with Centerline rims until I heard the horror stories about them breaking on people under heavy loads. Not good idea for a truck that weighs over 7500 LBS empty? The AE's are a good strong rim at a good price. My complete set of rims, tires (33's), caps, lugs, mounting, and balancing was only $1353. Best price I could find here locally in Jax Florida. Make sure you get a strong wheel (check the load rating).
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Have fun with the new truck !!!!

You need to have no worrys you have a very good realible truck. The 7.3 ltr diesel gets about 17 mpg in the city or and on the freeway. This is a very powerful engine I would say the best diesel you can get in a F250 or 2500. you said your going to put a 4" lift on it but they are already the tallest truck on the road for a F250. Oh well don't mind me I have just never liked raiseing trucks because the turning and hualing capibitys decrease quiet a bit. You may be insterested in making your 7.3 ltr engine 235 hp and 400 tourq engine into a monstar 400 hp and 800 tourq. It will cost less then a supercharger and do way more for the truck. Imagine the only diesel owener in your town that is smokeing the vettes.
have fun with your new truck

HELP!!! 2000 F250 SD 4x4 Crew Cab Lariat 7.3 Diesel
exsquse me I made a mistake I was thinking about the dodges cummings. For the Ford diesel you can get 100 hp and 150 tourq added from kits. It adds better fuel injectors, tourq plate, cam, and a chip. This system works exstemly well there is no mistake this kit really works my friend got it and he smokes the tires. 0-60 in 5.8 seconds on his F350 dually 7.3 ltr diesel. I am guessing it would do more of a effect on a F250 then a F350 because of the weight change.
