Daystar Kit - Good news and some bad news....

The good news is that the kit is as every bit as good as alot of you have said it was. Now for the bad news. Some board members mentioned that you do not have to realign the front end after the install. For what its worth, my truck had to go in the shop for some minor service. While it was there, I asked them to check the alignment for me because of the install. I told them I would pay for the alignment. So I hung around and watched them perform thier service. Much to my surprise as well as theirs, the end result was that there was no change in "caster" or "camber". But there was a significant change in the "toe". I took it under consideration that they could be telling me this just because I offered to pay for the service. But because I was inconvenienced with the other service they performed, they said there was "no charge for the alignment and have a nice day". So for what its worth to anybody with the kit, I would reccomend the alignment. I sleep much better now!!

Anyone looking for a coil spring compressor can find one at autozone for about $35. Dont want to spend the money they will loan the tool to you, no charge, and only ask for a deposit to encourage you to return the tool.

Second the not needing to disconnect the upper control arm. Install is a lot easier not removing the upper.

The 4x4 springs have 3/4" wire diameter, the 4x2's have smaller wire diameter springs. I could not find any compressors that went above 5/8" wire diameter. I did'nt want to take a chance with the autozone rentals so I took my strut assemblies to the dealer and had them take em apart.

I used the Autozone compressor. Took a little elbow grease and the wire did not fit perfectly inside the hook, but it did hook.
