Stock power in a 1997 Powerstroke

I am trying to find out what the rating is. Having a hard time finding the rating on the net. Did a couple quick searches here and didn't find anything. Trying to compare horsepower and torque from a 97 F250 powerstroke to a 2004 2500HD duramax.

Stahlecker,
According to Banks a stock 97 PSD makes 179.9hp@3000 rpm and 378.1 lb-ft @1900rpm.
Believe that is at the rear wheels.
Hope that helps

Also they say the 04 duramax makes 252hp@2200 rpm and 458 lb-ft @ 1800 rpm.
But then again it rides like a car and I like my truck to ride like a truck.

My calculation was at the flywheel, Banks always calculates theirs at the rear wheel. That is why their ratings #s are sometimes lower and more coservative than others.

Don't mind me I'm just jealous because I can't talk the wife into letting me get a powerpack.

The 94.5'-96's were 215hp but the 97's are 225hp. It is just in the pcm code. You can upgrade any 94-96 to a 97' code though.

And..... you can upgrade any 94.5-97 to put out a lot more than a stock Duramax for a lot less money.

1997 numbers, at least for the manual transmission, are 225HP and 480 lb/ft at the flywheel.
