Recommendation for OR tires
I have a 2001 350 SD with no lift. I am planning on doing a four inch lift. I am looking for suggestions for quality lift kits and
great large tires, 32inch. Any idea the widest and largest diameter the stock rig will accept?
Thanks.
I also have a 1991 F-350, black lots of chrome, 460 gas 2wd crew cab lariat for sale outside Seattle WA. ONLY 79,000miles. I mostly drive my 2000 150 around town.

Recommendation for OR tires
LAST EDITED ON 28-Jul-01 AT 07:48 AM (EST)[p]I have a '99 F250 V10 4x4 w/o the X-Code springs (snow plow pkg.), and I run Goodyear Wrangler ATS P305/70R16 (equivelent to 33" x 12.5") on 16x8J Mickey Thompson Challengers. I have no clearance problems at all, and can fit a spare 305 between the frame rails. If I had a F350, I would be real tempted to try the P315's which are the metric equivelent to 35" tires. I don't think that a P315 spare would fit in the stock location though. I've run the Wrangler ATS tires since 3-98, and they perform very well in all cases. I off-road in northern MI, run the sand dunes in western MI, and we get a lot of snow here, and have never been let down (stuck). The open tread design is WAY superior to the BFG's I ran on my last truck. The P305's will work on stock rims, but you'll have accelerated tire wear in the middle of the tires, even when aired down as low as 32 PSI. I ran the stock rims until June '01, when I bought the Mickey's. The new rims hang out the extra inch, but still don't look to goofy. If you like, I got a couple of pics I could E-mail, though they are not real close-ups.

I have a friend at Discount Tire, he does quite a bit of SD tire work, Without a lift and stock rims 305's rubb on some and not on others. I have the steel wheels that are more narrow than the aluminum factory wheels. I put a set of 305's on and they really did not look right. I was at 20 psi before the bulge came out of the middle. 285's are a pretty safe choice but I am waiting to buy rims and go with 305's!

32's will look too small with a four inch lift. Most guys are running 35's with a four inch boost. Some report minimal rubbing, some none. 35's however, will be shaky at best on the factory wheel. I have heard of a few guys running 315's on their factory wheels but not many. My suggestion to you would be to wait a little longer and save for aftermarket wheels to go along with your lift and run a 35" inch tire. If I may be so bold, I would also suggest going with Fabtech's 5.5" lift to definitely clear the 35" rubber. You will hear some guys say the Fabtech kit doeasn't look good with 35's,...they are wrong. It looks perfect...of course that's just my opinion and I may be a tad biased. Oh, and BFG's Mud Terrain in whatever size you end up with is a good, all-around choice for wear, noise, cost, and performance in a off-road type tire. Good luck!
