ARB for Dana 60

Hi there

ARB has two different locks for Dana 60, RD35 and RD36. One is for gear ratio 4.10 and down, the other is for 4.56 and up.

Does anyone know what difference there is on those two?

ok the dana 60 has 2 different carriers... one for the 4.10 and down gear sets and one for the 4.56 and up set. the reason for this is the thickness of the ring gear, the 4.56 set will have a thicker ring and the surface it mounts to has to be off set compared to the high geared carrier. strength wise, no difference at all, price maybe. it just depends on what kind of R&P ratios you want to run. the carriers are called series 3 (4.10 and down) and series 4 (4.56 and up) For a 3 series carrier (4.10 and down, Spicer part number 706040X) Dimension A is 2.225"
For a 4 series carrier (4.56 and up Spicer part number 706041X) Dimension A is 2.360".

However, you can use a 4.10 and down arb for 4.56's providid you use the thicker gear set. Only go this way if you are sure that you will never want to go to a numerically higher gear set.

ARB and Dana 60

Well, somtimes things are not like they seem at first. I was looking for ARB lock for front axle in my new 2004 F250. As mentioned above, ARB prouduces 2 different locks for DANA 60, depending on diffrential you use, that is with different carrier. Product numbers are RD35 and RD36.

RD35 is used with gear ratio 4.56 and up, exept!!! if this is reverse cut you still use RD36 for 4.56 and up.

At least this is what I have been told.
