Question Transfer case questions

hey guys, just have a couple question regarding Superduty t-cases. I have a 2000 F250 PSD with a 6 speed and NVG 273 t-case. The electronic shift junk on the T/C has been giving me grief for quite awhile now and the chain is getting sloppy. So I have been looking for a replacement case for it and have found a NVG 271 that has low miles (out of a totalled truck) but it was out of automatic truck. My question is this, can I swap a 271 that was behind an auto into my 6-speed truck? Are there any differences that I need to know about or should it be a simple and straight forward swap? Do they have the same bolt pattern, spline count, input shaft length etc? Any info would be great. I don't want to drive 3hr's each way to buy the 271 and then realize that I can't use it.

Thanks in advance,
Cory

Might go to a dealership parts department and ask them. They are usually pretty good about giving out info like that.

The only issue is whether you might need a tailshaft or an adapter. The nice folks over at http://www.advanceadapters.com/newidea.html can very likely answer your questions. They can bolt just about anything to anything.
