lawnmower oil

I know its the middle of winter, but what do you all do with old oil from the lawnmower? I don't change any other oil, so can't put it with that for recycling. Any ideas??

I just put mine in a jug to use on chains or dab a little on a dry hinge.Your neighborhood garage may take it also.

I believe that anyplace that changes oil is required by law to take it. So go to your local car dealer, they have to take it there, at least in mn they do. (I Think)

At a few gas stations here, there's oil recycleing centers, I usually take them there. In some places the recycleing service will pick it up if it's in the right container.

Got any auto parts stores in the area? Most will take your oil off your hands free. At my local Pep Boys, I just drop off in whatever container they're in (usually empty 1 gallon wiper fluid jugs). Auto Zone employees just point me at the oil tank in the back of the store and tell me to empty my jugs into that. Another option for you is to take the oil with you when you get the oil changed on your vehicle. I'm not sure about the law that any oil change place has to accept your used oil, but I am sure that the boys at the oil change place won't mind if a customer asks them to take care of a little used lawnmower oil.

The manual for my lawnmower says to just pour it out on the ground. As many people seem to say on the net; i'm certainly not going to tell the engineers they're wrong...

You can't pour it out on the ground, lol. Try telling the guys at the EPA that.

well...can't is a very subjective word. There's lots of things you "can't" do, but still do.

Hope you're kidding about pouring it on the ground... if not, thanks for helping to contribute to the environmental decay of our planet. Is it really difficult dropping it off at the oil change place when you take your truck in?
