Need code help

How do you check for codes on a 4.6 engine? I never worked on new fords before so i dont know.

Basically i got a 4.6 that seems to be missing and the check engine light comes on. I want to find out what code it's throwing so i know where to start. I'm hoping it isnt the spark plug popping out deal...

Yeah, i assumed so. Of course it isnt my car, so i wouldnt of known if it blew. Then again, any time you leave a plug out it makes quite a bit of noise...

Anyway, it wasnt serious at all. Looks like the spark plug boot on #4 was torn. Looked like someone work on it before and tore it, but just said screw it and jammed it back in there. Somehow a lot of water got down in there and shorted everything out.

I just replaced the boot and blew all the water out and it works fine now. I thought for a while it could be a coolant leak from the heater line that runs near there, but this was definatly water, not coolant.
