I have heard many times that the big window option is rare and have wondered if any estimates as to the relatively availability for these years. After considerable hunting, I have located a '56 and '59 with large rear window. I haven't seen many '59 F100 ro F250 with option but might be more than I think. Does anyone have insight into this question? I must say that the '59 F250 looks great but truck needs work despite being complete and was wondering if worth fixing or just wait for another example?

I've also heard many people refer to the Big back window option as being "rare". Certainly not as many of them were ordered as the standard back window, but I don't believe the term "rare" is really accurate.

To me, "rare" would be more like the '57-'60 "safety package" (padded dash, padded sun visors). You just don't see many of them.

There seems to be many of the big back windows still around. Maybe not in the next town over like they used to be, but through the internet, e-bay, Hemmings, salvage yards, FTE members, etc., I've actually seen quite a few.

Unfortunately, no records exist as to how many were ordered with this option, and I couldn't make an accurate guess.
There are places that now sell a big back window "kit" for the '56. You could probably do the same thing with a '57-60 salvage yard donor.

Just my opinion, but if the '59 F-250 is in decent workable shape and the price is right, I'd go for it.
If not, I personally wouldn't buy it just for the window, and I would definately wait for another to come along.
