Cool What if the big 3 got together?

How about this? Just for kicks,if I could build the top truck mine would be as follows:All Ford chassis and body F-350 4X4 DRW with the 5 speed auto trans! My motor gotta go Cummins. And interior would be the leather loaded GMC stuff,Its nicer than some living rooms I've been in! I'm just having fun here, after reading the treads about who's the best out there,I guess I don't really think anyone offers the complete package. In my opinion it would be the truck I described above! (I own both in real life the Powerstroke and a Cummins,my Cummins has 200K and runs strong)

WOW......

To be able to pick and match whatever features from the big three that you want, and combine them into one truck would be AWESOME!

There are lots of choices and things I like about all three, but I'll put mine together assuming I've got to actually pay for the options- like at a dealership(not winning a dream truck here-just spec'ing out a reasonable one with features I like about the big three)
I would like a diesel-but cant actually justify the cost of one- if I chose one though, it would be the Cummins ISB. Auto tranny would be Allison. Second choice would be the Dmax.

I would LOVE 4wd-but would probably never need it- though I would go with the Ford solid axle/ leaf spring set up- if I got it.

Here's the truck;

Ford SD series Reg cab Cabin / w 8FT bed body.

GM 3/4 ton HD 39,000 PSI straight frame rails w/9" center sections.

GM corporate 14 bolt 10.5" Full floating rear axle 4.56's and locker

GM 3500 rear leaf spring packs w aux springs.

Ford Twin I beam/ coil spring front axle.

Dodge New Venture 5600 six speed manual

Ford Triton V10 gas engine.

Interior GM 40/20/40 cloth seats - rest could be anyones.

There'd be a few other tweaks and compromises for sure, but this would be the foundation for the rig.

I'd keep the truck body I have now (03 DRW superduty) but I'd slap in the Cummins engine, and mod. the hell out of that ! I think mostly everyone here would want to see a Cummins engine in a Ford truck. (The F 250 - F 550 that is, since the bigger trucks has that engine for an option)

"GM 3500 rear leaf spring packs w aux springs"

Oh, gawd. Are you serious??? Do you like paying your Orthopedist a lot of money?? I've never ridden in a HD Chevy truck that rode nearly as well as the new SD Fords. The new Fords carry a load a lot better as well. I don't know how Ford did it. Being able to combine a good ride with a spring stiff enough to carry the heaviest loads is definitely a trick.

What's your problem? You obviously aren't here to post what you would choose in a truck if given the choice from the big three, so what ARE you doing here anyway? Looking to pick a fight? To disrespect other's posts?

I certainly would'int want a Dakota with a Lightning 351 in it, nor a Ranger with a HEMI (though a SD with Cummins would be sweet
) but I certainly respect what they would want if given the choice. I guess Ford always has and ALWAYS will be all your ever going to need or want in a truck, and that's fine - for you.
I personally like all three- that's my choice.

If you need something to keep you busy then go start a thread about your Lightning, and how it'll hug the ground better than a vette', out accelerate a funny car, and turn tighter than a tricycle.

I will be sure to stay away from it and not waste my time looking at it- just be sure to title it properly so I know what it is before I waste my time even clicking on the link- call it"The miracle called Lightning" or something like that.

Take care.

No I'm not looking for a fight. Just offering my opinion, like you did. I made no comments that would reflect that all I ever wanted in a truck was Ford. I am very much open to the different offerings from other manufacturers. It just so happens that I disagree with you concerning one aspect and you fly off the handle. Geez, man. I've got no problem with your choice of GM frame, rear end, seats, etc. Those are all nice choices. The springs, well, I've already said my peace. I think you need to chill out man. Not everyone here is going to agree with everything you say and that doesn't mean that they are personally attacking you, unlike your childish jab at me concerning the Lightning.

I would want: Superduty axles and suspension, GM 2500HD frame, dodge cummins HO with dodge manual transission, 79 f350 body, and the old cast iron geardriven transfercase (NP205?) from back in the day.

refering to navstars original post i think that combineing the "big three" is dumb.....just my opinion but they have always been competition with each other...combineing em would be just wrong!!!

This was just supposed to be a "what if". Personally I think it would be a great idea to see different parts in one truck. (But please, keep the Chebby parts to a minimum )

It would be fun to take a nice old restored '72 or so Chevy truck and put a stroked Ford small block in it. That would blow those Chevy boy's minds!
