Yes, it elminates the need for a chip... it actually reprograms the stock computer to the tow or off road program. And it lets you restore the computer to stock or change from one program to another anytime... it does everything a chip does. The only drawback is that you can't change programs on the fly. You don't even have to know your ECU code, it figures it out.
And before you ask... it will not let you program more than one truck. Once you use it, its tied to your VIN.

Ken,
are you gonna fill us in on the Delta chip.... been seeing stuff about it the last day or 2...
What does that mean for someone like me... who bought a chip from you last week....?
Do I have to belly-up to the counter with cash-in-hand or is there an upgrade path to the Delta chip for my V-10?
By-the-way so far sooooooo gooooood with the new diablo..
Thanks,
Byram

This is what the Delta can do:
1. 1 program, same as current chips, the chip costs slightly more than the current chip
2. 1 program plus LED switch that lets you flip between between stock and the performance program: price of item (1) plus price of switch
3. 2 programs plus LED switch that lets you flip between stock, standard performance program and custom performance program: price of item (1), price of switch plus custom programming fee
4. 1 program plus Key type switch that lets you flip between between stock and the performance program plus act as a kill switch: price of item (1) plus price of switch
5. 2 programs plus Key type switch that lets you flip between stock, standard performance program and custom performance program, and act as a kill switch: price of item (1), price of switch plus custom programming fee
6. Instead of having to stock 3 chips ( 1-bank, 4-bank and EEC-IV ) the Delta can be used for all three program types.
If you don't have need of a second program, a kill switch or you don't want to pay more, then the Delta doesn't offer you any advantages (other than being able to add these features to your chip at a later date). The Delta uses the same tuning code as the current chips.
As to upgrade paths, if Diablo provides an upgrade path then I'll provide one. At this point, all information is pre-release and subject to change. I am in touch with them almost daily concerning the progress.

Superchips Microtuners On Sale
So, is this different than the flip-chip that's at the store?
I am leaning heavily towards chipping my Excursion. (Jus' don't tell my wife...) My search for info has just begun. I am still confused as to the differences between the Diablo and the Superchip at the store. Now there's another one coming out! AAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHH! Confusion!!!
Where is a good link to a topic on this site where you have answered this comparison question before?
I just need one program. I'm not concerned with going back to a stock program. But if I want to, can't I just remove the chip?

these chips sound very intising, but i am still sceptical. i have heard people say get it, do it. but then i have also been told not to waste my money. i dont remember which company, but one of them told me that it would do no good on a truck with a manual transmission? so i dont know.
