Horn/Cruise control fuse keeps blowing
On my 1999 Ford Explorer, I'm having a problem with my horn fuse located in the fuse box in the engine compartment. It keep blowing when I honk the horn. This causes the cruise control and the horn to stop working. If I replace the fuse with a 15 amp fuse, it blows instantly. If I replace it with a 20 am fuse, it will work for a few days/weeks or until I press the horn on the steering wheel. When the fuse blows, the horn and cruise control stop working. My alarm system is connected so that when I lock my doors by remote control, my horn honks. This does not blow the fuse but the horn sounds very weak.
Today, I pressed the emergency lights switch on the steering column and after a while a little whisp of smoke started rising out
of the steering comlumn. It stopped immediately when I turned off the emergency lights.
Has anyone out there experienced the horn/cruise control problem and if so, do you know the cure?
