Welcome to the site!
I bought the '97 in my signature a few months ago. It had 181,000 miles on it. Doesn't appear that the previous owner kept up with maintenance very well. Transmission will need to be rebuilt soon, but the engine is very stout. Only oil usage is from a very small drip at the timing chain cover. I'll fix that this Summer when it warms up again.

HEy,
I've had my 1997 Ford F250 w/460 for about 3 years now. I got it with around 50000 hard miles on it, and I've gotten up to 80,000 miles now. No trouble with the motor. I've beaten the heck out of the truck at times (burnouts, four wheeling, stupid things), but I do change the oil regularly etc. No trouble at all with the motor. Its a great truck and I still love driving it daily. Some minor belt squeaking in the cold, new battery at one point, thats about it so far with this motor.
