Thanx for your reply. Do you experienced the vehicle to alter its thirst with a heavy load.

Gents,
I read more about fuel mileage than basically any other subject on these forums.
I find it funny where we have the LARGEST SUV's known to man and we hem an haw about fuel economy!
When we bought the HULK we were more concerned about the warrenty and the outstanding reputation that Ford has for their products, right?
Well fuel economy was a factor, that's we choose Diesel over Gas.
We all know the Diesel monster is the best for what it is but be real. That engine needs to propell 9300lbs lbs of steel. That a lot of work.
Just a thought.

Most of my computations are with light load. However, I do accelerate "hard" and drive fairly fast on the highway. I know that highway economy would be better at < 70 mph.

There was a lady writing an article here:
http://www.car-data.com/xpage.road/r...odel=excursion
(please open in new window)
that says:
Ford also offers the Triton 5.4 V8 and the PowerStroke diesel in the Excursion, which has even more pulling power than the V10 but comes with the penalty of higher cost, noise, bad smell and lots of pollution.
Why was that. The diesel version should being less expensive as you said.

Quote: noise, bad smell and lots of pollution.
Noise OK Granted, its a diesel; smell, I like the smell;
Pollution!
She got her head up where the Sun don't shine. There is more pollution coming out of that V10 than 4.5 diesel powerstrokes combined. Powerstrokes don't even have a converter.
