Dead Truck

I have a 1989 f 150, I have had it parked for a few months and today I installed a new battery and tried to get the old work horse running to no avail. I have absolutly no power in the truck at all, not one light, nothing, the cables are hooked up properly to the battery. Any ideas what I am missing? Could the new battery be dead? Could the ground be off the engine somewhere or am I missing a breaker somewhere? Ideas on what to look for would be great, thanks in advance for comments.

Usually a new battery are fully charged but there are some exceptions to that.

Get a voltmeter and see if you are getting 12V+ across the battery positive and negative terminals first.
