96 F150 Heater Core

I have seen slot of posts all replacing this part, except for the 96 models. Ther is a black box with two screws in front of the housing behind the Glove box. Does this come off first to get to the heater core?

Yep. Take the seven screws off the cover and the heater core is right in there. Undo the clips for the wiring and vacuum lines at the bottom of the housing and carefully move them enough to get the core in and out. You may want to put some RTV on the cover before putting it back on to help seal it. You'll see how the factory used a similar sealant.

I had to do mine this past weekend too, all the black box is was the RABS computer. The only problem that I had was the intermitent wiper control module was in the way and it was hard to get to 1 screw.

Question 95' heater core

I don't know if this thread is still new enough for Intillzah or texan66truck to reply, but I have the same problem, the heater core (95"F150). How did you take the cable along the top of the panel and the wires attatched to the bottom off before removing the (heater core) panel. And the wire harness on the right side?I guess the panel slips out the bottom when all of this and the 7 screws are removed? There almost doesn't seem to be enough room for the heater core to come out.
