4x4 light went out

I drove to work tonight, snowing badly here in Denver. So I used 4x4. Light came on. Just went to get a bite to eat, and couldn't get the light to come on. 6 inches of snow on the ground so it helps being in 4x4. My hubs are in, the shifter is pulled into 4hi. I think I was in 4hi, the light has nothing to do with it right? If I am manually shifting it, it's in right. Nothing electronic about it? I pulled it into 4lo and the "low range light came on.

Just want to make sure I'm actually in 4x4.

Sounds like the bulb just burned out, or the connector on the switch for the light is loose or dirty.

I agree with pfogle. The 4X4 light is a joke at best. My 4WD light will go out after I have shifted my BW 1356 MANUALLY into 2WD, but I will still be in 4WD (no auto hubs here either). The light is an electrical connection. Replace the bulb if it makes you feel better, but even if your 4WD isn't working the 4WD will illuminate (as long as the bulb works).
