4WD question from a newb

My '95 F150 was the first truck I've ever owned, and it just sort of fell into my lap. I was wondering if someone could explain how to operate the four wheel drive. It has manual locking hubs.

For 4 low put the truck in N and push down on the lever while pulling back. It will not go into low any other way. You made a good choice with the 95 i LOVE mine would not trade it for the world.

Can you go from 4High to 2High without unlocking the hubs.

This winter I will need 4 high to get down from my house to the main road, but once I get to the road I do not need 4high until I get home at night. Can I lock the hubs and still run in 2 High.

Thanks

Yes you can. On the road in 2WD, you will notice some vibration, and a little heavier feeling on acceleration due to the hubs still being locked. While they are locked, the road will be turning the front axles, differential gears, and front driveshaft. It will just be disconnected in the transfer case. At your first stop, I would unlock the hubs, but that's me. I don't feel comfortable driving with front hubs locked at high speed (~70 MPH). Others may disagree.

4*4

I live in Saskatchewan F.W.D. further walking distance.
you wont need it most of the time, don't drive it to 70 mph unless you want your hubs to fly apart 40mph is lots . Go in on 2wd when your stuck use 4wd to get out if your stuck in 4wd yur walken. never sink past your axles, get a winch, chain not rope, cable, tool kit, thousands of dollars, and your good to go. LOL>

In 4wd high your front tires turn faster than the rear. in 4wd low the front turn slower or equal to the rear. this makes or breaks you. 4wd high first 4wd low next, foot to ground looking for a tow.
pull the 26 ounze Jack Danels out from the seat and consume quicklly. than anything is possible.
have fun.
