5.4 loosing oil.

wife's got a 2002 f-250 cc with the 5.4 with 55000 miles. In the last 2 oil changes it has come a quart and half low. she drove from houston to nw ark last week right after an oil change, 1000 miles give or take. the next day when she started it she said it was running rough and clattering like a diesel she shut it off and called me, I told her to check the oil, which she did and none showed up on the dip stick. She put 2 quarts in and ran fine. when she got back I checked right when she got home and was 1 1/2 low. I don't see any smoke. Called the dealer and they want to do a oil consuotion test on it .

Has any one had this kind of problem??

Thanks
Dave
Sorry about the spelling NO Spell check....

A few people have had trouble with vanishing oil from the 5.4L. Your trouble sounds EXTREME. I would let the dealer look at it see what they have to say.

Well I had this happen to my 98. After blowing a plug and disassembling the motor I found where all the oil goes! It was in the lower part of the plenum of the intake. traced problem back to a faulty PVC valve that was wore and sucking to hard. Replaced the PVC valve after rebuilding the motor and the oil is still in the pan where it belongs
