Distributor vacuum "timed" or "full"?
I have installed a new Edelbrock 600 cfm carb and the installation instructions for hooking up the vacuum line from the distributor state that I need to determine if the distributor vacuum port is timed (no vacuum at idle) or full (vacuum present at idle).
The distributor is a rebuilt Autolite so does anyone know how to tell what the vacuum port is (timed or full)?

Zach007,
The "Timed" or "full" vacuum reference is not for the "kind" of distributor you have. They are names of the location you connect the vac advance hose to.
The "Timed" port is the one located on the passenger side of the carb, towards the top, at the front. It sticks out sideways of the metering block. The "full" port is a port located either at the base of the carb or on the intake itself.
Whatever you do don't ask the question: "Which one is best?" as you may start a war! :-) The opinions on this are almost as strong as Ford-Vs-Chebby!!
I recommend you try both locations and use what works best for your application.
Good luck,
