I recently purchased a 1999 Coachman Santara Motorhome with a V-10 Triton engine. How can I tell what the horsepower rating is? The only thing I get from the paper work is that it is a 6.8L engine but I don't know if it is a 275 or 310 hp engine.
Be gentle, I am new to V-10s.

If the motors are the same then you would have the 275hp motor. I believe the 310hp came out in 2000.

 

the 310 version has been the more prevalant version that i've seen. the 275 where the earliest of fords v10 capable trucks and vans.they more than prove their value as dependable work trucks.

 

How can I tell if my 2000 (mfg 12/99) F250 V10 is a 275 or 310 hp?

 

There will be a casting mark that says "PI" for performance inhanced. I would need to research the location.

 

You can see the casting mark in the photos in this auction. It doesn't really show it's location, but appears to be under the valve covers. I hope this helps. ( cut and paste as needed)
