Need some suggestions on spindle
Hi,
I'm in the middle of a brake job on the truck listed below. I've got the left side stripped down to the spindle but I can't seem to get it off. I've tried a hammer and chisle, soaked it with WD 40, even let the weight of the truck down on a jack stand. It just wont budge. Any ideas? Should I even try to remove it? Isn't there a bearing in there that should be greased? The axle is the Dana/Spicer 50. Thanks in advance.

What you're working on is a bit newer than my '79, but I think it goes together the same. Just did this yesterday! I used large amounts of heat from a torch and a large hammer. Heat then hammer, heat then hammer, this went on for quite a while until if finally broke loose. Rust is amazingly difficult to break loose. There is a bearing (and seal) in the spindle that should be greased as well. Have patience as this whole procedure does take a while. Good luck!
