Towing thru the hills

I towed a 9000+ pound trailer for 7 years to moose camp every year through the mountains in Alaska with my 2005 F150 5.4L. It struggled at times going up some steep grades at slow speeds, even running 5000 rpm's at times. But a good trailer brake controller and weight distribution set up will take care of you no problem. My fiancee and I bought a 6500 pound 28 foot camper last spring and I towed it at least 4000 miles with the same 2005 F150 and it handled it with ease. The truck has 170k miles, never had any engine or tranny issues. With that said, we are upgrading our moose camp setup to a 15000 pound trailer, so I upgraded and bought a 17' F350 Powerstroke. But my '05 F150 is still in the yard, and still going strong.

I have 2013 F150 XLT 5.0 engine, 3,55 gear ratio, trailer tow package. I plan buying a travel trailer and need to know if going through the mountains of Tennessee and Kentucky (using I 75 as the route) would be an issue. The trailer is about 30 feet total length and with cargo 6300 lbs. The GCVWR is 13300 and I figured I would be at 12800 or so. I have been told by co-workers that I would have problems especially braking going down hill and a tough time going up.
I am in the dog house because my wife wants to go camping in Georgia and I told her I dont think it can be done due to the weight.
Help

My 5.4 09 F150 CCSB with tow package will haul pretty much any hill at 50-55mph at 3000rpm. I've towed all across the USA the past 3 years and never had a transmission or engine overheat. Slow and steady wins the race, why rev the hell out of it burn up fuel? At 50mph you're still passing rigs like they are standing still.
