Well, it WAS a good-looking truck when it had you-know-who's plate frame on the front!

Sorry, but i couldn't resist! Where you been this past week? Seems like forever since i saw your name in the posts! You've probably been busy at your local Ford dealer, having all those PROBLEMS fixed!

No problems here. I've just been enjoying the nice weather. I did notice what I think it the slight shudder at take off on a sharp turn with the LS rear end (only noticed it today with temp at about 45...stopped when it warmed up). I'll watch it to see if it gets worse, but it was very light and didn't seem to be a problem to me. If it starts bouncing me out of my seat, then we'll visit the dealer to see what's up. I'm very reluctant to take it in unless I'm sure there's something wrong with something...anything. The last thing I want is to be without my truck and for the dealer to maybe put a scratch on it. That would really tick me off. It'll get a scratch sooner or later, but I'd rather it not be because of it being at the dealership.

All I can say is: I am LMAO at those who think this is an UGLY truck. I have had an 96 and 02 and this truck by FAR looks and rides and shines well above the rest. I am sooooooooo happy that Ford went back to the more boxy look versus the Chick truck look. Not trying to offend anyone with the Chick look truck 97-2003, but that truck was design specifically to attrack women. My 2002 was sweet my 2004 is SWEEEEEEEET! Nuff said......

I agree with blkbuty. However, I've got a friend that thinks along the same terms as many of you guys. He refues to ever buy a newer model Ford, anything 96 or newer that is, simply because he is a heavy smoker and uses the vent window. I just laugh and tell him he's behind the times. The build quality of this 04 is by far superior to the older models. Call it a truck, call it whatever you please, when I pay this amount for a truck I don't expect it to sqeak, rattle or vibrate. I for one am glad that Ford spent some time doing their homework on this issue. As for the floor shift "phobia" people, have you driven one yet? If not, go try it because I once had the same "phobia" thinking it was silly, but after realizing how much easier it was to shift between drive and reverse in a parking lot I was sold.

Talking

The floor shift was one of the reasons I went for the Lariat. I believe only the FX4 and Lariat have the option. I LOVE my floor shifter! I think it looks cool as hell and its very functional like ultramax said. Once you get used to it, the column shifter seems downright unorthodox.

I like being able to put the tranny in neutral when I'm sitting at a traffic light. It was too much trouble to do it on the column, but on the floor it's a snap.

Didn't I read a thread where the '05 transmission was supposed to do this automatically (put itself into neutral during extending periods of idling)? Can't remember where I read that, but I'm sure I did.

Nice looking truck lariatf150! You've got the daystar kit don't you? To me that greatly improves the look of the 04's. I thought they ruined the look in '67! It always takes me awhile to get used to styling changes. I like the looks of all the Fords all the way back to the '20s. Ford has never made an ugly truck IMO but I think the 04 is the best.

dgdee, the power steering cooler is mounted above the front axle on the passenger side. Its above the airdam but is pointed at a downward angle and looks like it might catch debris from the road. I live on a farm and I know if I drove one down a picked corn field and kept the tires in the furrow, the row of stalks would line up with the cooler and beat it up good. Maybe it won't cause any problems where it's at, but it doesn't look like a good place to me.

Nope...I don't have anything installed other than a bed cover, floor mats and the splash guards.

fordman19762003,

I thought that was the transmission cooler. Does the towing package give you a transmission cooler AND a power steering cooler?

I thought the styling of the new F-150 was supposed to be more like the superduty?
