Suggestions on 2011 F-250

I have a 2011 F-250 6.7L I purchased used in 2013 with 17k miles. Now the vehicles has approx. 75k miles without any issues.

I purchased the 6.7L because we were planning to purchase a 5th wheel and I wanted to have plenty of power to pull. Unfortunately, the plan for a 5th wheel has changed, so the need for a diesel is really gone.

Because the mileage is reasonable and we have not had any issues with the truck, my thoughts are to sell/trade it. Resale value would be good right now and I am honestly concerned about something going out and costing a fortune to fix.

I really like the truck and the way it runs, but I know repairs/maintenance are costly. I hear all kinds of horror stories about the 2011 6.7L's and large repair costs. I know this does not apply to all of the 2011's, but I also know if it happens, it's not cheap.

My thoughts are to sell/trade it and purchase a used 6.2L gasser. The truck is nearly paid for and I don't want to get into a big vehicle payment, so I could use some objective thoughts/recommendations from the experts. I am not pulling much with it anymore, so I could honestly get away with a 1/2 ton, but I prefer the 3/4 ton.

Keep the 6.7L and drive it till it dies or unload it now while the getting is good and get a gasser?

Thanks!

If it is in good shape and runs good I think you are very wise to get rid of it. Diesel in good shape will have a lot or equity, even more if 4x4. I know because I (my wife actually...) traded in a 2014 Ram 3500 not two weeks ago and it was just a tradesman. So hold your ground don't let them get over on you. But hell yeah DO IT!

I would think that you're in good shape if you're looking for the same year or even a couple years newer 6.2 when you factor in that the 6.7 today is an $8 or $9k option.
Being close to payoff is another bonus. That could put a sizeable amount toward a newer trade. Put 'er on Craigslist while you're shopping dealers for a replacement. You never know when lightning will strike.

I agree with above...

Sell. and get a 6.2L

and the 6.2L will still tow 12,000 pounds without issues.

There's 200,000 miles on my 2011 F350 6.7. I have no desire to have another truck take it's place, unless it's going to fly or drive itself.

My '11 is just about the same mileage. I do have a 5er though, and love the way it pulls it. I just like the diesel anymore anyway. I worry sometimes about what might happen, and would love a new one, if just for the newer technology upgrades. But damn...no truck payment. Yeah, I'm all over that. I'll put that payment into my house and get it paid off. That's my goal right now.

I bet if you posted this question in the 6.7 forum, you would get a much different answer.
I have a 2011 as shown in my sig with 120ish miles on her. No major problems. Trucks been great. Keep it and enjoy. As soon as you sell, you'll have need for the power or tow capacity and then what....

Thank you for the replies everyone and please keep them coming, they are very helpful and appreciated.

I started the thread because I was looking for objective feedback and sometimes I end up overthinking things...

I have been looking at 6.2L's, but there does not seem to be that many used ones and new crew cabs are darn near $50k. I definitely don't want to have another large vehicle payments, so I think anything new is out.

Why in the world would you ever go back to gas when you have owned a diesel??? Now that I have seen the light and gone diesel, I will NEVER own another gas vehicle ever again!

That's a personal preference. Never say never. Never say always.
I went back to a gasser after my 7.3. I don't see owning another diesel again but life is strange sometimes. I've got my reasons, but they don't really pertain to the OP so there's no need to elaborate.

I was in your shoes a year ago. I wanted a loaded 6.2 CC. I hate gray ones, and despise cab lights, so that culled out a bunch of potential candidates right off the bat. I plugged my specs into Autotrader and searched a radius that I could drive in one day. After about a month I had 5 trucks that ticked all the boxes. I made a tentative deal on the one I liked the best, rented a car and drove the 400 miles to make sure it checked out. All was as represented, so I turned the car in at Enterprise. The salesman picked me up, went back to the dealership, settled up and headed home. It's a 12 KR CC 4X4 with 32K miles. All in, including sales tax was about 38,200. I did have about 3-4 hundred bucks tied up in the rental car, gas, and hotel, but that's just what I had to do to get what I wanted. Your truck is out there, but you are going to have to do some work to find it. I know from experience that just checking in at the nearby dealerships is not very fruitful. HTH
