Need HELP F100/F150 stepside 80-83 required

Hi Guys!

Firstly - long time looker, first time poster and I love this forum for tech and info on these trucks.

My name is Darin and I'm from Sydney, Australia. I'm trying to buy a F100/F150 Stepside Bullnose. I do know that they are a bit harder to find and I'm having some problems with people not replying to international emails and phone numbers.

What I'm asking - is there anyone on here that knows of any for sale or if any one is willing to help me by contacting a seller for me? I'm not asking any one to do this for nothing and I'm happy to reimburse and compensate for time involved to locate and get the sale to go through.

Would be prefer if the truck is located on the west coast because shipping will be done out of LA.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum, Oz Econoline and G-day, mate! When searching, use the terminology "Flareside" rather than "Stepside", which is Chevrolet speak!

Getting one from the desert southwestern portion of this country would be ideal.

California-emissions would be difficult for you to deal with methinks, the best shot in that situation would be to just wholesale replace the fuel & ignition system on any suck California truck. But the bodies are in nice shape.

Thanks ctubutis that's the plan to try and get a clean and dry truck from the western part of the states. And that's why I said 80-83 model I'm not a fan of the early efi and would like to stay with a carb

California had computer-controlled carburetors beginning I think in 1980, they were controlled by the EEC-III ignition system. I would avoid those.

Some of the guys have said the trucks from Oregon are in excellent shape and cheap. I've talked to guys from OK that traveled there and have marveled at them, so I've gone on Craigslist and looked - and they appear to be correct.

My advice would be to look on the Craigslists for various cities and see what you find. And I would include cities in California as these trucks are getting harder to maintain and, since they have to pass emissions testing, should be available cheaply.

Then, if you find a truck you are really interested in, maybe someone on here that is close can check it out? (I'm not so can't help and don't want to volunteer anyone.)

OR & WA: West of the Cascades, it rains and rains. East of the Cascades, it's mostly desert.

Thanks Gary! I'm always checking out Craigslist from New Mexico to San Fran, CA and anywhere in between. I've also checked as far as Eugene, Oregon.

The main problem that we have is either sellers don't answer international phone calls, don't reply to emails, don't want to deal with overseas buyers or don't have clear title in hand (which is something that we need in order for it to leave the country).

The 'overseas buyer' scam for CL vehicles is as cliche as a Nigerian Prince wanting you to launder some of his millions.

It's no wonder you have a hard time getting sellers to even reply.

Perhaps it would be best if you found a cooperative individual here in the States to make the purchase for you.

Also, I'm not sure if it works internationally, but you might consider getting a Google Voice number.
I have a few, and can request any area code I like.

My daughter, who lives in Nicaragua, says in her experience Google Voice doesn't let her call from there to the States. But, it does let you text to the States, and then when the US person responds it sends you a text at your original number with the contents of that text.

I was thinking more of a US Google number that was forwarded.
If someone calls me my tablet, cell, landline and even a desktop will ring.

Or maybe have someone activate a sim card here in the States with an international roaming plan.
You would have a US number roaming on Telestra or whatever carrier there is in Oz.
You wouldn't be using it for everyday calls so it shouldn't cost that much and would make the sellers less wary.
