2014 F150 towing

Hi all! i'm new! so i went to look at a used 2014 F 150 Supercrew 4X4 5.0L V8FFV with tow mode and towing package. 145" wheelbase. 3.55" axle ratio/#7350 GVWR. I need help in deciding if i should get this truck!

i don't have a trailer yet but i'm looking for something under 20' and less than 5000 lbs.

i looked up the towing capacity of this truck and found its about 7700. Do you think i'm safe as long as i get something under 5000?

i also got a price of $28500 for the truck. It only has 23000 miles on it. It seems to be good price for the area i live in.

what do you think?

Hi you well pull 5000 pounds easy. Remember, same truck just with different engine rated to tow alot more. Even midsized like chev colorado diesel is rated 7700 pounds. And the 5.0 engine is no slouch, it rated higher power then 5.4l and same truck in 2010 with max tow and 5.4 rated to tow like 11000.

Agree, I do not think you will have a problem.

it will pull that one fine. I would re-think this a little.

Zero in on the trailer and then get the truck to match.

That way you ensure you are happy with both.

What's your payload capacity? That's where the F150s are known to run out of room first.

you "should" be fine, but it's circumstantial.

I "should" have been fine with my 5800# (dry) weight TT, but it threw me all over the interstate on a trip to OH and back. If you load your rig properly, upgrade to E rated tires, buy a 2k hitch etc you can tow with a 1/2 ton. Much of it is your own comfort level.

I decided to trade my my 1/2 ton in for a F250 to feel safer towing. I learned that even if you are within the limits of the vehicle, you can still be thrown all over the road because you have a trailer that weighs more than your truck and the tail can wag the dog. My fear was that I spent thousands on upgrading a 1/2 ton and at the end of the day, it was still the same scary senario.

Best of luck either way
