56 F-100 Yblock/AOD Conversion
Im looking for help with swapping an AOD transmission and Y block to a stock frame on 56 Ford F-100. I have the Benstien adaptor that mounts the AOD to the Y block. The stock truck had a manual transmission bell housing mounted to the stock main cross member between the frame rails. I tried mounting the AOD at the rear of the tail shaft and the front of the Y block using a stock motor mount under the crank pulley. Way too much side to side play. I am in the process of using stock side motor mounts in the middle of the block to the frame rails. Has anyone did fabricated mounts for this application? I am also interested in whether or not anyone was successful with making this swap and not having to install a raised floor pan over the transmission and without removing the main stock cross member what the stock bell housing mounted to on a manual transmission. I will be swapping the rear end out for a ford 9".

I'm surprised that Bendtsen didn't provide directions. I bought a Flat-O adapter for a C-4 on eBay and had the same problem. Called Flat-O and they knew instantly what my problem was. The adapter I had was made for a car. Their adapters for trucks have ears to mount in the stock rear motor mount positions. Seems to me I saw an add-on for the Bendtsen. I think you need to give them a call. Here's something from their price list that might be what you need:
Cross member kit – Ford Y-Block pickup truck complete $350.00

Yes. I used the same adapter.......... I have welded mounts to the frame and made my own side mounts so I could use my Bentsen adapter + E4OD. I also made my own rear mount (bolted to the frame)
The engine mount above is a Dodge Cummins mount!
And the oil filter remote does say OMC on it!! (came off an OMC 460 King Cobra marine engine)
If you were to use a Bell-housing mount (similar to the standard Y-mounting) you would still have that long trans behind. I would still want a rear cross mount in that case.
I also used Rams-Horns instead of the stock manifolds and just made my own flange/tubing pipes work with them.
Now having said all that, I seem to remember that Bentsen now has bolt-ON mounting brackets that will match up with the existing bell-housing mount cross-member.
Cheers,
Rick
