99 4.2 f150 help
Ok first hi! I live in NY and own a f150 2wd 4.2 with 260k miles and its a stick.
bought the truck for a song and dance, put new plugs and wires, thermostat, fuel pump, fixed the evap issue and few other things.
developed a new issue (mind you I don't drive it much) it starts and stays running great. After it warms up it chokes out. When driving it slowly loses power and stalls and won't restart till it cools off. Odb2 (cheapo) pulls no codes at all.
checked all fuses nothing.. Relays nothing.
Now here are my thoughts but they don't add up.
Clogged converters. Didn't notice any significant heat issues and thought it would pop a code if it did. Swapping exhaust requires me to buy in pa.
Second thought is electrical. From my knowledge when the pc heats up it can cause electrical issues with the board Or other issues etc.
neither are popping codes at all.
not exactly sure what to test or where to start.. Throwing money at it isn't the answer as it's basically my wood and motorcycle hauler.
Considered an engine swap but truth that would make the engine worth more then the truck and unless I jump in and replace everything including computers and harnesses it wouldn't be street legal.
(added: pulled air filter and ran it did nothing.. Cleaned maf.. Same)
Any help is appreciated and sorry my first post is a help post.

Have you checked the fuel delivery systems? Maybe not getting a correct amount of fuel compared to air ratio for sustained combustion? I dont have a great idea of what could be happening, but I noticed that nobody had commented. Maybe someone will correct me and you will have your answer!!!!
Good luck

Okay go back to the basics. Make SURE of oil pressure, ie, manual oil gauage. This is so you know the engine isn't siezing up. There is also a mechanical wonder of throttle plates for each cylinder, in the intake manifold operated by vacuum solenoids (I personally never did figure out what they're purpose was). I know, I know, should codes for this and that, which you're not getting, just see if all the mechanical stuff is functioning for those butterfly intake is working. It seems to beva temperature related problem. Maybe the EGR thing on the front of the manifold plugged up? bl2009
