My new truck 1966 f600??

So just bought this bad boy, and she is throwing me for a loop!! As soon as I go pick her up I'll get the vin and more details. But I'm pretty sure it's a 65 f600.

Your thread title: My new truck 1966 f600 .. but then you say: But I'm pretty sure it's a 65 f600.

The grille is 1965, the upper grille panel/parking lamps: 1965/66.

Post a pic of the Warranty Plate, riveted to the left door face below the latch.

Max: Congrats! That truck looks to be pretty solid, my '66 F250 Crew was probably in worse condition than yours 40 years ago!
As ND mentioned, the info on the Warranty plate will help determine the year and other info.
So, how much do you know about the trucks history, and what are your plans for it?

Honestly I now very little it was part of an inheritance of land and the lady didn't know anything about it, and I bought it off her. I plan on seeing if she will turn over and start, becuase all the vehicles on this property were parked running. But ultimately I plan on selling it to work on my daughters car.

Oldest lie in the old car hobby: ran when parked. If it ran, why was it parked...then neglected?

Looks like the hood has been missing for a long time, desert critters have probably made a gazillion nests in the engine and everywhere else they can squeeze into.

if you sell it..i wouldnt....just dont junk it..if you would...sell it to the right person....crew cabs are scarce and if its a late '65 the it was a fomoco deal, not a aftermarket co.
be cool to see a crew cab with a short bed, put all the goodies on it a a later fuel injected motor...would still look better than the '17 f150 IMO-just my two cents
does she run?

702,589 - June 1965 assembled date so it is a 1965 model year truck. Too early of a VIN to be 1966, which started with 732,000 in August 1965.

Looks like it has the Ford 300 1V in it, too. That's a big truck for a 300 but it must have gotten the job done.

I also noticed there is no holes on the inside of the door for an armrest. Looks like it never had one of those.

Chad: Did you notice that it was assembled in the Michigan Assembly Plant?

That goes against what I was lead to believe (ie: all Ford produced crews came from Ontario assembly plant), but after a recent conversation with a fellow in WA state selling a crew on CL, who between himself and a friend have owned something in the order of THIRTY of these trucks, what I have been lead to believe may not be the real deal??

When did Ford start producing their own crew cabs in house? I can never remember.

But, if this one was sent out to some coach builder to have the crew cab work done then I think it could have come off the assembly line as a single cab and that might not alter what you have been lead to believe, right?

I guess it all depends.

This is one cool truck, I think.

Chad: The one thing that seems to ID the Ford Produced Crews (vs: coach built) is the 360 degree drip rail.
All the coachbuilt ones I've seen do not have this, and most have the drip rail curving down the C pillar (which would be the B pillar on a conventional cab)

The windshield glass opening is 1,247.00 square inches.
The side windows (including vent windows) is 796.74 square inches.
The rear cab window is 600.00 square inches.

Total area = 2,643.74 square inches.

Seat Width 56.8"

Effective Head Room 40.9"

But, I got nothin' on a Crew Cab here so I leave that detail to you....

Weird thing is I even have the Canadian price sheets for all light-truck cab models and even that has nothing about a Crew Cab on it. Like ND has said before with respect to the MPC - it's like they didn't exist.....

My Dad bought a 1970 F250 4x4 Crew Cab brand new in 1970. He called it the Burlington Northern because it took about the same amount of space to turn it around as a train.

L = Michigan Truck Assembly Plant .. but this is where the Regular Cab was assembled.

I don't know what Ford plant modified the Regular to a Crew Cab.
