Gary's Next Towing Adventure
#32
Thanks, guys. It was quite an adventure. We got back this morning, having driven through the night. The trip was ~2000 miles, but in 24 hours we drove 1200 of those miles as well as loaded the truck and lots of parts.
But, we had no problems. And, my Tundra-driving brother was blown away with the way my F150 tows. We had probably 9000 lbs in and on the trailer, and we pulled it at 75 MPH with no difficulty. However, it takes fuel - we got 9 MPG doing that.

9K pounds, 75 MPH, 9 MPG. The truck itself was smooth with no white knuckle moments where the rear axle was unloaded or the trailer wagging the truck.
It shows how capable this latest F150 chassis is and how well the 3.5 EcoBoost tows. Great report. The F150 does the work today that a 3/4 ton was needed for in the not too distant past.

You asked, so here's what I have. This one shows the parts that come with the truck, and they filled the bed of the '85, the bed of my '15, and the back seat of the '15.
Here's the documentation that came with the truck:
This one shows the difference between an F250 and an F150 of the same era. I think I'm going to rename my '15 "Blue" instead of "Big Blue", and the '85 will then be "Big Blue".
And here's a comparison of the tires from the F250 vs those of the F150:

And, while there were some white-knuckled moments, they weren't due to the rig but the 18 wheeler we were passing. In several cases we were next to a Jersey barrier so had no place to go and the 18 wheeler came drifting over our way. We think it was so's they could get a better look.
