Help in the Atlanta area

I posted this on the trucks forum also, as it's a motor issue, and here in the van thread as well. Mine is a 1993 E-150 van, but the 4.9 I-6.

Are there any members in Atlanta who can check my timing, know a good mechanic, or can otherwise advise me?

I travel and live in the van rock climbing. I'm working construction now in Atlanta. I can fix many things, but don't have a timing light and have never done that.

Issue: had the van a few months. Its had a hesitation/miss that CAN stall the vehicle sometimes, just OFF-IDLE. If I gun it, doesn't happen. If I slide into the throttle very slowly, doesn't happen. Normal off idle acceleration, JUST off idle, it misses. Does it more cold motor than warmed up, but always there.

Also getting 13.5 mpg driving super easy hwy @65mph. C6/ 2.73:1 is worse than 4spd, but not that bad as rear end is so tall.

I changed the fuel filter, plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor, o2 sensor, checked ignition module (via autozone compuer), checked TPS (via guide here w multimeter). NO change at all.

I then ran a few tanks of Seafoam and Lucas injector cleaner through it, and a can of intake cleaner spray while running. MPG went to 15.5.

Miss changed a LITTLE, but still there!

Some have advised my timing may be the issue. I don't have the capacity to check it. Plus, I wonder if someone more experienced w these older motors may know my off-idle miss/hesitation problem (which is see seems common on the forum with MANY causes) and may be able to quickly find it.

Any help guys?

Thanks

If you're near Athens I'd recommend Master's Garage on the northwest side (off Commerce Hwy I think). Otherwise I haven't found a place yet in Atlanta that I would recommend. There has to be one out there though...

Thanks. I'm working way out west side Atlanta and Marietta. No plans to be near Athens.
