Lost 3 hub caps driving 300 miles?

I had hub caps when I left the house this morning.

Got to to my destination, 3 out of 4 fell off.

Truck is brand new, (35 miles before I left today).

Normal or dealer mess up or? The last cap popped off with little effort.

I don't know, but the dealer owes you some hubcaps. Are you sure someone didn't steal them?

yup. Funny as I was driving to pickup some lariat rims, so I was looking at my tires before I left. Made the trip straight and 3 were gone by the time I got there. Bumpy *** i5.

The last one I tugged on just barely and it popped right off.

Sales guy said he'd talk to his parts department Monday.

I would definitely say dealer did not install correctly.

I know mine is a DRW, but I couldn't get my rear hubs off if I tried.

I lost one on my first day. Dealer replaced it at no charge. Took two weeks to get in though. Everybody should check these before they leave the dealer.

No way those accidentally fall off. It takes a good tug to remove them. They do have kind of a two-stage feel to them when putting them on. You set them in place with a tap and then you have smack them home onto the hub. My guess is that they didn't do step number two.

Thanks all. Sales guy said he'll check with parts department tomorrow. Hopefully that means they'll order a new set.

Will make sure they give them a double tap and a pull test next time

On the upside, 1000 miles on the truck now.. and running great

I had one come off at 900 miles. Went to the dealer and they told me missing parts are not covered under warrantee. I got my salesman and talked with the Service Manager and they confirmed it is not under warrantee but the dealership would order and pay for it. What is not surprising is that the part is backordered so they must be have several come off.

Since I had lost one on my first day, I've been paying attention whenever I'm doing anything on the wheels. I've noticed that if you tap them just right....they can loosen or come off. For instance, If I'm scrubbing my wheels with the brush at a car wash and I tap them just right.....they'll pop loose a bit. I actually had one come all the way off as too, but I did hit it pretty hard that time.

This reminds me of something a friend and myself did way back in high school days. My buddys dad was at the local American Legion hall one night and we were just cruising around town and saw his Cadillac sitting in the parking lot. So we stopped in and took all 4 of his hub caps off and put them in his truck as a joke. Well we forgot all about it and about a couple of weeks go by and his dads yells at us in his garage (we were working on my buddies 69 Mach 1 Mustang) he says while you in there open that box up and put the hub caps back on my car. He turned it in on his insurance and got new ones. he never did open his trunk to see we did it............Finally told him what we did about 2 or 3 years later...LOL

I just purchased my truck last night. I drove it home from the lot and parked it. This morning when I got to work my guys were looking over the new truck and one of my guys pointed out I was missing a center cap too. I haven't even had the truck 24 hours and one is gone. I need to figure out how to drill and tap it for a set screw or two.
