Pickup Jack '48-52

Saw this jack on Ebay and, although I don't plan on bidding for it, I'm curious if it is the correct jack for our trucks.

Not according the Lin Stacey, the expert who's expertise far exceeds mine.

I Googled Lin Stacey but most of the listings are for Stacey Lin, MD in California. There were a couple of links to old articles in V8 Times that refer to Lin Stacey but no pictures. Does anyone have a picture of the correct jack?

All of these tools are correct unrestored versions of what was a dealer option in 1950.

Thanks for the pictures. I think I have a number of those tools. I picked them up while looking for tools for my Model "A". I also have a couple of jacks in the garage that look similar. I'll check them out tomorrow. There's someone on Ebay selling the thumb screw for $20. I know they're scarce but I can't bring myself to pay that much for one screw.

Those thumbscrews are almost a dime a dozen at Fastenal, Grainger, or McMaster Carr.

Thanks for the info Mixer Man I almost bought one of those thumb screws but could not bring myself to spend $27 for one bolt.

Is the grease gun you have pictured here marked Alemite or does it have Ford script and a part number? I have one that looks like that one ,but it is marked Alemite.
Thank you, Mark

I don't blame you. 75¢ sounds more realistic. I have one that came with my truck and there isn't any Ford stamp on them. Purists wouldn't know the difference.

I would check the thread size first. I think it might be 24 threads instead of 18 not sure. It screws into a caged nut. I will check with my parts guy to see if I can grab a few to give you guys at reasonable cost.

The grease gun I think should say alemite. I have a total list with descriptions from Lin I will try to dig up.

Looks like one of the jacks I already have is a close match, if not identical, to the one you've pictured. I also have three cranks. Unfortunately, the only one that fits in the slot on this jack does not fold although the other two do.

One of the threads I read in V8 Times said that the screw is 5/16 - 24 tpi.

3twinridges, Thanks for the reply on the grease gun. I would like to see the list of tools you have, although I know there will be differences for my F4.

I used to have one of those jacks. Don't know where I got it or why I even had it. Been a long time. The base was bent so it rocked around. I don't remember what I did with it but it isn't here any longer.

Later!
Mr. Ed
