I pinstriped my tailgate (2nd time)

I've been on this pinstriping kick lately and for the past 3 months have spent a lot of time trying to learn this art, even to the point of going to Vegas to an Air Brush Action Magazine Getaway for a 1 day pinstriping class. I've done some good stuff, and some not so good stuff, and decided it was time to do my tailgate, the 1st time I did it, it just didn't work, the design sucked

, the placement sucked I was not happy with it so I pulled off the tail gate, re-sanded and re- shot it and started over. This is what I came up with, I see some things I'd have done different but overall I am ok with it. Nothing is ever perfect, but I can keep trying until I get as close as possible. Every time I see pinstripng on a car, motorcycle etc, I tend to really pick it apart and it's rare that anything is perfect, but that just me, I'm my own worst or best critic..Here ya go

You've only been striping for 3 months and accomplished that ?
If you were closer I could keep you busy for a few weeks. Nice job !

I picked up the pinstriping hobby about 2 years ago, keeps me from getting bored during the winter. Looks good, especially given the short time you've been doing it. I also have the bad habit of picking apart every pinstriping job I see.

What brushes are you using? I like the Mack, King 13, and kafka brushes.

here's a pic of the first attempt on my tailgate. I also had to sand it down and redo it, don't have a pic of it now...

Don't think I would be that great at it either, but would love to try it once or twice. I like a little here and there. More to break things up.

I remember another fallen FTE member (hellfirejim) that had a friend of his do some on his glove box. Thanks for bringing up a memory of someone I called my friend!

I was at a car show where a guy pinstriped flames free hand on a 49 Mercury lead sled and couldn't believe how smooth he laid them and how symmetrical they were, it takes a great deal of talent to be able to control the brush like that, truely amazing work..
