1956 F-100 9" Shock mounts

Hi
Have the 9" diff in my 56, and am now wondering what shocks are best?
Diff is out of a 68 F-100 and wondering about ordering shocks for the 68, make and welding on mounts on the housing.
Anyone else gone this route?

I used stock 55 shocks with eyes on both ends. Removed the top mount, added a backer plate and drilled the crossmember for studs. One of my trucks I welded the stock 55 lower mounts to the axle housing. The other I got 58 F-100 lower mounts and bolted them on at the U bolts.

Must have missed this one first time around, same thing I'm doing. Like BJ, I beefed up the cross member and moved the stock top shock
brackets, then fabbed the lowers. Air shocks from Napa, so I can adjust the rake a bit.

Also used lower shock mounts from a 57-60 F-100 that bolt on with the u bolts. Allows you to use the stock upper crossmember.

I have a 1949 F-1 with original rear springs and a 9" off a '68 Bronco. I had to shorten the drive shaft about 2", but that was it. Bolted it onto the existing springs and drove away.
