Anyone in CNY time IDI motors

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone local-ish has the equipment to properly time my 7.3 diesel. I'm located about halfway between Syracuse and Rochester. I just bought the truck and it's a little hard starting with crap mileage. I can't afford injectors yet (truck has 200k) but I'm hoping timing it should help some.

Thanks!

I am not too familiar with diesels to begin with. Have you checked with Regional International on 5&20/Gates Rd? I believe that the 7.3 was built by International for Ford. Also, I am not sure who does diesel work in our area but I would think that the local dealers would have the means of doing this.

Not yet, I have been meaning to but you know how that goes. I live about 3 minutes from Regional I was just more or less wondering if there were any FTE'ers local who do it. Whenever I get to check with Regional I'll let you know though in case someone else asks down the line.

I know exactly what you mean with how it goes. I am not sure of any active chapter members that live in the area. I am down the road to the west in Farmington and George is down near Trumansburg.

Yeah I remember, I had a bullnose and a pipe dream of fixing it up and was relatively active on here.... Before I got married haha. I thought you were in Palmyra for some reason though.... Oh well!

I'm not afraid to drive to Rochester or Syracuse either but Conestoga Diesel (Southern P.A.) is a little too far to drive for me unless nobody else can do it and if that ends up being the case it'll wait until I can get new injectors and a new pump as well.

I would think maybe Regional could do it with all these farms around someone is bound to have one of these old motors. That's the only problem from what I've read, this engine hasn't been made since 94 so most shops don't have the equipment kicking around anymore.
