New Member/ Prospective Buyer Seeking Advice
#31
If anyone is interested, I have decided to sell my 03 Excursion, Eddie Bauer, 4x4, 7.3L Diesel. I have owned this car since 2004 and have it has been extremely well maintained. It currently has 319K miles. Within the past two years, I have spent approximately $11K on the following:
Fuel Injectors, glow plugs, starter, rear diff pinion & carrier bearings, front axle seals, Michelin LTX AT/2 10 ply, complete fluid service(trans, 4wd, brake), UVC wiring harness, bilstein shocks, water pump, coolant resevior, thermostat and billet housing, EBP Sensor and tube, ICT, IDM, CMP, steering stablizer, oil changed every 5K miles. Has MBRP exhaust(I have original exhaust system). Overall in very good condition. No rust at all, always a South Carolina vehicle. If interested, contact me at md993a@aol.com. Thanks

SNIP, SNIP, SNIP for save the internutz server space.......
As a side note, I'm thinking about taking a look at: https://anchorage.craigslist.org/cto/5821938624.html
I know it has the 6.0 but the owner claims it's been bulletproofed and is asking reasonable bluebook. Think it's worth checking out?
Thats a money pit you won't be dumping to much in. I say offer 10 and stay at 12. If seller says naw, can't do it, say OK, and than tell him to think about your offer and to get back to you, or you to him in a few days.
You have to let the reality of 10 or 12 cash in the sellers hand work its magic.
Buy it.

Lexx, I'm liking that advice! It's almost exactly what I was thinking about doing. After looking at the 6.0 section of the forum it does not appear nearly as daunting to own as its reputation would suggest. We'll see what happens when the owner gets back into town on the 7th and I can take a look at it.

Small update, the 04 6.0 seller just got back into town and after starting up the truck heard a "miss" in the engine that he can't identify. He has made an appointment for Different Strokes of Alaska to take a look at the truck and fix whatever is going on. He refuses to sell it with existing problems which is great to hear. I requested he have the shop do a full buyers inspection (that I will fully reimburse him for) at the same time they fix whatever is going on with the truck in order to save a week or two waiting for more shop time to come available.
As a side note, I have been looking into the different emissions requirements you need to conform to while moving with the military. Would a deleted EGR make the truck fail these tests and if so what sort of options would I have to make it emissions compliant while moving all over the place?
