I use T6. It's the best priced synthetic in my area. I change the oil when the truck tells me to (usually 7500 miles). I currently have 12 gallons in my garage and I order the filters by the case, I think I have 8 left. It only takes me 6-7 weeks to run 7500 miles so I have the routine down. My truck is almost 2 years old and I've done 15 oil changes on it!
I'm in the minority I think... I'm running Amsoil 5-40 year around up here in Maine. I was a religious Rotella customer with my 7.3. Previous owner of my 6.7 was running Ams so I figured I would give it a go.
after my free oil change i will be running 15/40 hydrotex . its the same stuff that the garbage company i work for has used for 15 years now . they went from changing the oil every 250 hours to every 1000 hours i also just started using hydrotex power kleen in my fuel this week . will see how it helps, this gets add to the diesel fuel reserve tank that we fuel up with at the end of each day. oh i forgot to mention the oil is full synthetic.
I have 2 years of free oil changes with the dealer, so once the truck surpasses 20k miles, I will either run Rotella T6 5w-40 or will go with Amsoil 5W-40 with a EO1 Amsoil Filter.
I'm about to come up on my first oil change and bought Schaeffer Manufacturing Supreme 9000 5W-40. I've never used them before in any engine but it appears to be top quality.
Just had my ford dealer change the oil for the 1st time. Pretty sure that they went back with reg. oil. (not synthetic). So I'm still <7000mi till me/myself & I change the oil for the first time. That should put me @ 12000mi.
