Gunsight
Was having lunch at the local Timmies and a slick pulled in. It is a 1966 F250 camper special and it had a gunsight hood ornament. It fits so well I was wondering if this was a dealer accessory or aftermarket gizmo that was from the era of the 60's? This is my first attempt to upload a picture from a cell phone

No factory or dealer installed hood ornaments were available for 1961/66 trucks, none were available for 1967/72, either.
The repro parts sellers are offering two different "hood ornaments." Neither one was ever used on these trucks originally.
One is actually a 1962/63 Falcon front fender ornament, the other is a 1957 Ford Passenger Car/Ranchero hood ornament.

I've owned several '64 Galaxies and have had several NOS '64 Galaxie hood ornaments, they looked nothing like this, as their base was almost as long as the hood itself.
Pic: The basic part number for hood ornaments is 16850 .. how many do you see listed in the truck catalogue?
NONE, because there was never any such thing!

As far as I can tell the holes are 4 3/16 on centre, with the front one being aprox 8 3/4 from the edge of the front hood badge. Just incase you feel like bucking the trend and installing one..
