I use 10w30 syn blend. Sound great. Fuel - use from a major supplier. Such as Shell, marathon etc. if they have premium fuel at one of those. Try it. Whenever I can I get it. Locally I found it for only $.03 more. It was a marathon truck stop.

I use to own a LMM duramax (2008 LTZ 2500) and it came with rotella 15w-40 when I bought it with 18k miles....once it cracked 5k miles I changed the oil with an a/c delco filter and Rotella T6 5w-40. As soon as I started the engine I got the dreaded typewriter tick for the next 5k miles. So like any consumer I started reading up on what oil stopped it...well long story short, next oil change I put in a Amsoil EOA oil filter and Amsoil Diesel Syn 5w-40 and sure enough the engine quieted down and the tick was gone.

I'm not an advocate of Amsoil but I can't complain about real life results. Once my new 16' F250 is down and over with it's 2 years of free oil changes, I will be running that same EOA oil filter and the same Amsoil diesel 5w-40 oil.

I just changed over to amsoil 5w-40 and the EOA filter as well. Only put about 500k on so far but no tick.

Ok. I added some cetane booster and it still sounds like crapola. I guess I will try the amsoil for my next change. Problem is, I don't do my own oil changes so I will have to find someplace that carries or will use Amsoil if I bring it in.

I'm a 6.0 owner and switching from T6 to Delo 5w-40 made a noticeable difference (quieter). I've heard good things about the amsoil too, but for the price, I'm going with the Delo for now.

I just did an oil change with T6 5-40 with Motorcraft filter that I've also used for the last few changes. It's noisier now than before the change. Sounds like an old 7.3 sometimes.

I'll try Amsoil for the next change if it'll help the noise. I haven't been running an additive in the fuel although I have some here.

Keep hearing about Amsoil and want to give it a try. I have been told that its good way past the recommend change interval.
With that in mind do you both stick to the recommend change alerts or go further?

Update. I just looked on the Amsoil website and see that they recommend following the mfg recommended interval for changes.

Depends if you have emission equip and warranty. The only reason they recommended the manufacture interval is due to the fuel dilution possibility caused by regens. I am however just going to change when my light comes on and keep receipts in case of any future warranty issues. So I guess if you were deleted and off warranty you could go much longer.

If you still have the emissions jargon then stick to the OILM on the dash, if you've deleted all that crap then I'd go 10k and then do a BS test, more then likely you should be good for 25k like the oil is rated for IF your deleted.

Chevron DELO Syn 5w-40 with a Napa Platinum Filter is also good stuff - the oil is sold at Wal-Clown for a hair under $20 for a jug.

might sound strange, but have you had your windshield replaced? I had a POS company here in Florida change my windshield and even after telling them it needed the soundscreen windshield they put in the other. Notice a little more noise, but we get windshields for free here in Florida and State Farm is going to make them change it just haven't got around to it yet.
Just an Idea

Yes twice in one month. Put in exactly what was original. Had in stock.
County roads had fresh tar and rock put on. We got peppered with rocks both times

That doesn't surprise me. Cetane does the exact opposite as octane does for gas. It makes diesel MORE volatile.
