Computer compatibility

Well my truck has been messed up lately and y'all suggested that the computer was toast. After replacing a handful of parts ive come to the same conclusion. My only problem now is that I can't seem to find a remanufactured computer with the numbers i have on mine. Will any 1987 inline 6 with a four speed manual work or does it have to match exactly? I can't remember the number right off the top of my head, but I can get back with that.

No you do not have to match the numbers exactly as that should be close enough.
But if you have the same problem then you know it was not the computer.

Well O'Reillys had the one I needed so I went and got that. Went home plugged it up and tried to fire it up and now neither of my fuel pumps are running. Engine started for a second on starting fluid so I know it ain't spark. Any ideas? Bad computer?

Since you never indicated why you think you had a bad computer in the first post it's anyones guess if you got a bad computer. Did the old one trigger the fuel pump?

I had another post with all I've already gone through with this truck. It has been absolutely nothing but problems since I got it but it was running. It wasn't running good but it was running. A couple of y'all on here indicated that it could be my computer and I began to agree with them because all of the sensors I replaced that should have fixed my symptoms ( ran fine until I stopped for any length of time then upon accelerating died almost immediately lime it ran out of gas. I replaced the tps and checked the injector pulse and idle air control) didn't. I also couldn't pull codes from it ( I realize it's an 87 and that they weren't wired for a check engine light but the way I checked it should have gotten something). So I went and got my new computer and installed it this evening (mind you the pumps were running before the new computer) . Installed it and turned the key and no buzz. Relay clicks but no pumps running like normal. Tried turning the key a couple more times... nothing. Ran back up to the parts store got my old one back and hooked it up trying to rule out that I got the wrong computer. Hooked it up and turned the key. Nothing. Took that back out and exchange it again. Now I have the new computer and my truck ain't even starting like before. Swapped relays nothing. I can hear them clicking though.

If you want to read about everything I already went through I'm sure there's a way to o find it somewhere.
Thanks for any help. I'm trying real hard not to put a match to it or lay a wrench across the terminals.

Well I apologize but that was 3 or 4 pages long and this seemed a little more convenient and made more sense to me because it was a different issue/question.
