1968 Bronco code name "Buster"

Little story about Buster. He was obtained by a friend and member here (SDELWOOD) that worked with the original owners son. The original owner had passed and it had sat outside for a long time, the last time the plates were renewed was 1981. Mike got this a couple years ago with the hopes of bringing it back to life for his wife, it was named "Buster" at that time. It has sat outside for another couple years until it made it to my barn last night (8/31/16) and will now patiently wait while I slowly tear it down to the ground upgrade a few components and completely rebuild it into a toy/driver. It is way to far gone to make it a stock restoration project (at least in my mind).

Here are a few pics of what I am starting with.

The plan is to rebuild everything and upgrade parts along the way.

Front axle to be replaced with a high pinion dana 44 and disc brakes
Rear axle upgraded to the big bearings and disc brake conversion
Lift kit, at least a 4". I may do the 5.5" with soft ride.
Radius arm upgrade
Auto trans conversion.
Build the original 289 into a 347 stroker, with fuel injection.
Fiberglass body
Full roll cage
and a host of the necessary changes for gauges, seats, wiring harness.

This should be a fun but long built.

He's been sitting out in the elements with no top for a long time. Door jambs are shot, floors are shot, inner fenders are shot. By the time I would try to square it all back up and out in new I could pay for the fiberglass body and never have to worry about it rusting again.

tub

certainly wont rust again
might even B tougher (depending on use).
They have @ least one metal 1 if interested (bout same $).

Check out the opinions over on CBdotcom there R plenty "there just like axxh%#$^." (thankfully it's not as bad in someways as it wuz). You'll C fans of the TerraComp & others. I like a WH's hood ('buckaroo') and the frnt & rear fenders (don't look 'cut') w/built-in-flairs frm the guys up in western Canada some where (not sure U can mix'n match tho)…

Keep us informed as U go along!

Thanks much 4 da pic.
