I am currently restoring a 1956 F100 (Custom Cab) bench seat and want to know if anyone knows of a supplier for the 1" buttons that appear on the back of the bench seat. The ones I have need to be replaced and I've been unsuccessful in locating anyone that has used ones for sale (like eBay), NOS, or reproduction buttons that are the split pin (brad) design. Does anyone know where I can get some of these and is there a part number that I can search against? Were these part of a 'Button and Strap' Kit and does anyone know if a part number exists for this part?

There's no Ford part number, as the 'lazy back' seat buttons were only sold with the upholstery.
Thanks NumberDummy for the suggestion. I have contacted them about the buttons and am waiting for a reply. Do you know if there is a comparable replacement that looks similar? How do other restorers handle these as I've seen several restorations with reconditioned buttons.
Hello JSP2. Do you still have the original buttons? If so I would be interested in buying them. I am trying to do a preservation of my great grandpas 56 and I am missing one button. Thanks!

JSP2 and JDM56, (with names like that you sound like secret agents!) welcome to FTE the best ford truck forum on the world wide web. you won't find more knowledgable guys than we have here. If an NOS part exists out there Number Dummy can tell you where it is and how to get it.
One condition before you are full fledged members of FTE: You must show us pictures of your truck and tell us where you are from! Start a new thread and introduce yourself.
That would certainly be an option to give the old buttons a new look. However, IMHO the original buttons did not have fabric on them. I believe they are finished metal prong buttons plated with nickel or something. My buttons do not appear to have ever had fabric on them.

I have only seen a stock 56 Custom Cab seat once and I didn't check out the buttons closely.
Thanks anyway JSP2! I will let you know if I find a source for them. I would be happy to just find one old rusty one that I could have re-plated. Hopefully this thread will lead me to one!
I found mine at a swap meet, but you might also try salvage yards as well. Many times, they don't even think about the buttons so you generally have to go look for yourself. Hopefully, you'll get lucky.
