Ford 6.8l v10 knocking

Hey all, new member here. I have a 6.8l V10 that ..... seems.... to be knocking. I am used to hearing v8 knocks but not so sure about a v10. The knock seems to double tap sometimes. Could this be a bad valve or lifter instead? Video is linked.

Also oil pressure seems to be fine.

Thanks
Martin

That knock sure is very loud and coarse to be an upper end component. Definitely sounds like a bottom end sound.

That's definitely bottom end. Not good. Take a stethoscope, and place it on the oil pan while it's running. How many miles on it?

156,000. That's with synthetic oil it's whole life with motorcraft filters. It happened after i replaced all 10 coils and plugs and put a new exhaust on it. I didn't know if that might have something to do with it. Here is a video of me driving it. Still sound like a low end knock?

That is definitely a bottom end noise. The last V10 I worked on with that same noise ended up getting a long block due to spun rod bearings on a couple cylinders.

Dang, I'm thinking about putting a new jasper in it.... any other recommendations? A local 90,000 mile motor is $2,500, and the jasper is $4,000. Considering I'm paying $1,000 to install i think i would rather have the new motor...

That's a hard call the used motor seems overpriced but I would prefer a low mile factory motor over a rebuild like jasper. I look at the factory motor as having been built better to factory specs with all oem equipment and with miles on it, if tested/documented before it was removed, I see it as proven. But I would be doing the install myself. So I'm guessing with the jasper motor and a shop install you have warranty for a certain period of time for whatever that may be worth?

Cat delete, and new borla exhaust. ( we were having fun) no, it didn't sound like that before. And it drove for sometime after the new exhaust install without a hitch.

As far as the new motor. The jasper would come with a 100,000 3 Year warranty. The used comes with a 6 month, 12,000 mile warranty. If i had my own shop i would install it myself but i don't even think my motor picker could even lift the motor.

I don't know, I can get a Ford reman here with a 3yr/unlimited mileage warranty for $4500ish. Have you tried a few dealers or wholesale places that deal with Ford. I would definitely want new.

It was to give perspective on the state of the market for 6.8l v10. Perhaps your question was rhetorical.
